Moscow eying enhanced agricultural ties with Iran

Moscow, July 29, IRNA – Russia is interested in boosting its agricultural exports, including exporting its wheat product to Iran, says Alexander Tkachyov Russian Minister of Agriculture

Tkachyov, during a meeting on Friday with Mahmoud Vaezi Iranian head of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, also called on the Iranian companies to increase their export of fruits, vegetables, fisheries and dairies to Russia.

'We are interested in exporting the Russian meat, sugar, wheat and sunflower oil to Iran,' the Russian minister of agriculture said.

'Moscow is also interested in importing agricultural produce, like fruits and vegetables from Iran,' he said.

According to Tkachyov, presently there are 24 licensed Iranian companies that could import agricultural products to Russia without any limitation.

'We should also try to speed up Iran's access to the Eurasian Economic Union markets,' the Russian official said.

Vaezi on his part, called for development of agricultural ties between Iran and Russia and opening up of the markets in the two countries.

He asked the Russian minister to issue more licenses for the Iranian dairy and fishery export companies.
