Iran exports dialysis filters worth 1.5mn euros

Tehran, March 14, IRNA – A lawmaker from Karaj said that the Iranian Dialysis Consortium which operates in Eshtehard Industrial Town in production of hemo-dialysis (kidney dialysis) equipment managed to produce hemo-dialysis filters valued at 1.5 million euros.

Mohammad Javad Koulivand underlined that different kinds of products needed for hemo-dialysis have been produced and used in over 500 hemo-dialysis department.

Last week, Secretary of Iran’s Dialysis Consortium Nozar Mortazavi announced that Iran exported the first shipment of its domestically-produced filters which are used for kidney dialysis purposes to Germany.

“For the first time in dialysis industry, dialysis filters manufactured by an Iranian company has been exported to Germany,” Mortazavi said.

The official said that the value of the exported shipment stood at 500,000 euros.

Asked whether the Iranian patients do not face shortage problem due to export of dialysis filters, Mortazavi said We need four millions of dialysis filters for 28,000 dialysis patients every year and the country’s output is nearly twice that amount.

“Iran had previously exported dialysis filters to countries such as Syria, Tajikistan, Georgia and Iraq, but exporting the commodity to a European country (Germany) is an honor for Iran,” he added.
