Iran exports $810mn livestock, poultry products

TEHRAN, Dec. 24 (MNA) – Deputy agriculture minister said livestock and poultry products worth 810 million dollars were exported from Iran in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (began March 20).

Hassan Rokni referred to the volume of exports for livestock products stating that around 51 thousand tons of poultry meat and related products like liver and gizzard as well as 477 thousand tons of milk were deployed to foreign countries in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (began March 20).

He highlighted that the volume of poultry exports experienced a rise as compared with the similar period last year adding “milk exports were also increased by three percent as well as that a small amount of butter was deployed to certain countries even though Iran is considered as an importer of butter.

Deputy agriculture minister noted that butter exports in the eight-month period rose from 220 tons in the previous year to 410 tons in the present year.

Rokni however recalled that egg exports were lessened in the current year mainly due to challenges caused by avian influenza.

“Egg exports plunged from 54 thousand tons in the year before to 37,136 tons in the ongoing year,” he continued.

Rokni emphasized that three per cent more honey was exported in the first eight months of the year reaching a total of 1050 tons; “overall, an aggregate total of livestock and poultry products were shipped abroad in the mention time span, a figure which equals the amount in the earlier year.”
