Russia eyes $20 billion in potential energy deals with Iran

Moscow, Feb 23, IRNA - Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak says Russia could potentially invest at around 20 billion dollars in Iran’s oil and natural gas production and exploration.

“Our companies have a particular interest in specific fields. In general, we estimate that the potential of the deals in this area can be estimated at around $20 bln,” Novak said during an interview with the Russian TV channel Rossiya 24 on Wednesday.

He also noted that Iran has confirmed its plan to purchase 12 Superjet-100 aircrafts from Russia in the near future.

Russia is interested in establishing production of components for Russian aircraft in Iran, and, in case of the corresponding proposal is ready to consider such possibility, he said.

According to the minister, Russia has offered Iranian partners to establish joint production of turboprop upgraded Ilyushin Il-114 aircraft.
