Third Iran-EU commercial meeting to be held in Frankfurt
Tehran, Nov 8, IRNA – Third Iran-EU Commercial Meeting will be held on the sidelines of Euro Finance Week in Frankfurt from November 16-17.
Shafei who is accompanying Iran's foreign minister on his Eastern Europe tour, told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that his trip is in line with the government policies to enhance the country's economic engagement with the world.
'Iran and countries in Eastern Europe have a long history of cooperation especially in transit of commodities from Europe to China,' he said.
'Even in the past, Iran and countries in the region used to run joint transport companies,' he said.
But in the aftermath of the Western-imposed sanctions on Iran, the cooperation decreased, Shafei said.
The head of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture said that following the implementation of the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, foreign countries are very keen to reestablish ties with the Islamic Republic.
'During the trip, the Iranian businessmen from the private sector are expected to hold preliminary talks with their Eastern European colleagues,' he said.
The Iranian official said the trip could bear very good results.
'I hope we will be able to find practical ways to promote economic ties with the Eastern European nations.'
