Iran particularly focusing on knowledge-based economy: VP

Beijing, Oct 25, IRNA – Vice President for Scientific and Technological Affairs Sourena Sattari said Iran particularly focused on knowledge-based economy and voiced readiness to cooperate with similar Chinese companies to this end.

He made the remark here on Tuesday while visiting an international technological center in China called Z-Park.

Noting that 38 scientific and technological parks currently exist in Iran, he said the biggest startup firms active in biotechnology and ICT in the Middle East belong to Iran.

He explained that Iran was seeking to replace its oil-revenue-based economy with knowledge-based economy.

He said ground was apt for activities of Chinese firms in Iran in these areas.

Chairman of the Chinese center voiced interest in participating in Iran’s joint ventures.

Sattari heading a delegation arrived in the Chinese capital early Monday.

The visit is made upon an official invitation of President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Bai Chunli.

While in China, Sattari is slated to hold talks with a number of officials and visit several Chinese cities to become aquatinted with the scientific, industrial and hi-tech centers during his three-day visit.

Inaugurating Iran's export corridor, signing several mutual cooperation agreements and visiting several Chinese scientific centers are also among Sattari's itinerary in China.
