Iran Bonyad Rail co. to cooperate with German railway firm to upgrade hardware
Tehran, Oct 16, IRNA – Iranian railway company affiliated to Bonyad-e Mostazafan and Janbazan Foundation has come to terms with German railway firm to develop cooperation on upgrading hardware.
Managing Director of Bonyad Eastern railway company Alireza Sheikh Taheri told reporters on Sunday that the company has signed contract with German Railway to upgrade services keeping up with world standards.
He said that the contract was signed in Germany two weeks ago.
Taheri said that it is the first time that such contract has been signed to upgrade quality of services.
It is expected that training would be put on the agenda of cooperation to enhance level of railway services in conformity with international standard.
The Iranian Bonyad Rail has 128 passenger wagons. It commuted 1.2 million passengers last year in the national railway networks.
He said that the company intends to increase its wagons to 250 in next two years.
Iran Bonyad Rail has initiated negotiations with a number of European companies to buy new railway equipment.
