Kerman to Produce 200,000 Tons of Dates
Aug 24, 2016- Date production in southeastern Kerman Province is estimated to reach 200,000 tons by the end of the current fiscal year that ends in March 2017, according to the head of the province’s Agricultural Jihad Ministry.
“Dates from Kerman are exported to Central and Southeast Asia, the Persian Gulf Arab states and Europe. Our products are popular since they are grown organically and have high quality. We need to expand our processing and packaging industries to be able to have a better performance in the international market,” IRNA quoted Yaqoub Mousavi as saying. According to the ministry, Iran’s total date output is expected to increase by 100,000 tons from last year to reach 1.18 million tons, while exports are estimated to increase from 170,000 to 200,000 tons.
