Tehran, Bucharest Discuss Environmental Cooperation

Romania is considering establishing environmental ties with Iran, particularly in environmental conservation, natural resources management and green economy.
In a meeting between Iranian Ambassador in Bucharest Hamid Moayer and Romanian Environment Minister Cristiana Pasca Palmer on Tuesday, the two countries discussed issues of mutual interest.
Elaborating on Iran’s aim of protecting the environment, the diplomat pointed to Tehran’s 35 environmental memoranda of understanding with various countries and urged Romania to work with Iran, IRNA reported.
He also invited Palmer to visit Iran to be apprised of potential fields of investment and cooperation.
Commending Iran’s environment officials for their efforts to introduce environmental courses in school curricula, the Romanian minister said this will help raise awareness among future generations.
Palmer said she has always been intrigued by the Middle East and its various cultures and admitted having a special interest in the history and customs of Iran.
Romania and Iran will find numerous environmental fields to cooperate on,” she said, hoping that a strong bond will form between the two nations.
