Tehran, July 28, IRNA – After the number of foreign tourists visiting Iran doubled following Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Germans, Italians and the French rank first to third in Iran's foreign tourists table, said head of Iran's Tour Operators Community.

Talking to IRNA on Thursday, Ebrahim Pour-Faraj added that after the implementation of JCPOA, the number of tourists arrived in Iran showed 50 percent rise and it is projected the number of foreign tourists reach five million this year.

Excluding pilgrims, most of the Iranian tourists are from European states with Germany, Italy and France ranking first to third, respectively, he said.

'We have implemented innovative projects to compensate shortcomings in hoteling of foreign tourists. Launching VIP train was one of them which brought to Tehran tourists from Harvard, Metropolitan and Stanford universities,' he said.

Iran intends to raise the number of foreign tourists to 20 million by 2025, using post-sanctions conditions.
