74 new dams operational this year: Official
Zanjan, July 21, IRNA – Seventy-four new dams are ready to be put into operation this year despite financial shortages, says the managing director of Iran's Water Resources Management Company.
'This year 74 dams are ready to put into operation, including 17 dams constructed in line with policies of the Resistance Economy,' Mohammad Hajrasouliha said in a ceremony on Thursday.
Dam-building projects in Iran will be implemented as long as there is need for fresh water in the country, Hajrasouliha said.
The construction of new dams in the country is aimed at providing water for drinking and industrial purposes, he said.
According to the official, the Water Resources Management Company is considering building 44 new dams based on the principles of feasibility.
