Iran, Afghanistan sign road transport contract

Tehran, Feb 26, IRNA – A road transport contract was signed in the presence of the deputy minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran and his afghan counterpart.
'Tens of thousands of trucks cross the borders of Iran and Afghanistan; the transportation authorities of the two countries examined the way to facilitate the crossings of the trucks,' said Davoud Keshavarzian, managing director of Iran's Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization.
He said that a part of the toll was cut to reduce transit costs.
Afghan Deputy Minister of Transportation and Aviation Jarallah Mansouri said that Iran is a big neighbor of Afghanistan and demanded that his country be allowed to use Chabar Port, southeastern Iran.
'Afghanistan and Central Asia countries can use the port t import from and export goods to China,' he said.
