Tehran, April 25, IRNA -- Managin Director of Iran Zinc Mines Development Company said that more than 90 percent of Iranian zinc ingot has found its way to markets in 14 countries.

Ardeshir Saad Mohammadi told reporters on Tuesday that Iran’s Zinc is bought with a higher price than the global one, adding that the deals for more than 76,000 tons out of 80,000 tons of last year’s production is signed and the rest would be changed into Zinc powder.

He added the target for the year 1395 (2016-17) was 77,000 tons of Zinc but with 80,000 ton production, the country managed to move well beyond the figure.

According to the Managing director, 65,000 tons of Zinc ingot were produced in 1394 and the figure for the year 1395 shows a 22.5 percent growth.

He said that Iran with 0.9 percent share in the Zinc production ranks 11th in the world, and the 4th in Asia, according to the International Lead Zinc Association.

Saad Mohammadi also noted that Iran National Lead Zinc Company for the first time managed to hit the record of Zinc ingot production with 99.99% purity, adding that active presence in the world markets, especially for the lead and zinc mines, is among the targets and for the time being Tureky and Nigeria are the top choice markets.
