This microbial flora not only has digestive function but also contributes in the homeostasis of intestinal epithelium and innate immunity. This microflora’s change is effective in the pathogenesis of various diseases, such as infections, inflammations, allergies and immunologic disorders. Recognition of the importance of intestinal microflora has increased the use of probiotics for promoting and maintaining overall health. Probiotics are live microorganisms which cause health benefits on the host if they are used in adequate amount. Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium are the most common probiotic strains. Streptococcus thermophilus and Saccharomyces boulardii are also used as probiotics. Taking probiotics can be useful in any situation, but the beneficial effects of this product is more obvious in the following conditions: • Viral or bacterial gastroenteritis in children, acute infectious diarrhea, travel diarrhea and antibiotic associated diarrhea • Bloating, colic and constipation • Reflux and lactose intolerance • Allergy / atopic dermatitis • Enhancing body immunity at the time of the outbreak of infectious and seasonal diseases such as cold
