The history of FCDCo returns to 1935 when Falahat office was responsible for providing the sugar beet seed according to the climate condition of the country. In 1940, Sugar Beet Seed Agency was established which was then grown to Sugar Beet Seed Institute (SBSI) in 1988. In order to overcome export restrictions and commercializing the research achievements, a cooperative company called Field Crops Development company was established in 2013. The company works on the production and distribution of sugar beet and sweet corn seed. FCDCo is the greatest sugar beet producer in the Middle East.
