MSC advances to final of Asian MAKE Award 2017

The sixth international conference on value-based management of knowledge was held at IRIB International Conference Center in Tehran to assess the volume of value created from intellectual capital.

In the conference, Professor Saeed Sohrabpour, the head of Iran’s MAKE Award council, granted an accolade to Managing Director of Mobarakeh Steel Company Dr. Bahram Sobhani and praised MSC as an Iranian knowledge-based company which has made it to the final of the Asian MAKE [the Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises] Award 2017.

In the same gathering, Global MAKE Secretary in Iran Mehdi Shafi'zadeh said that out of 70 Iranian companies which have been assessed this year, 45 have entered the closer assessment stage and five have advanced to the final, adding that Mobarakeh Steel Company, Bank Pasargad and Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company Ltd have been picked as Iran’s top three knowledge-driven organizations.

He went on to say that the award mainly aims to assess how much value is created from invisible and physical capital and how value is created from the structure, organizational communications, human resources and HR management.

Along with 150 assessment indexes, the Global MAKE Award representative in Iran said, eight criteria were taken into account in assessing the companies, namely, the leadership of the organization; the learning organization; creation of an interactive atmosphere for knowledge-sharing purposes; organizational culture; innovation; intellectual capital; customers’ knowledge; creating value from knowledge for non-profits and public sector.

He said that one Asian country hosts the MAKE Award ceremony every three years, adding in the next event which will be held in Hong Kong in January the top Iranian companies will exchange experience with Asian giants which are the best companies as far as the MAKE Award is concerned.

He also said that 70-90 percent of the capital owned by the world’s top 500 organizations is intellectual capital, expressing hope that Iranian organizations can secure a berth on the list of those companies.

The Global Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE) Award is an event which has been held since 1998 as the world’s largest and most reliable assessment as far as knowledge-driven organizational management is concerned. In light of the significance of the award and the role of constant assessment in the organizations’ managerial activities, Sharif University of Technology represents the Global MAKE Award in Iran.
